It took some time for the modern bean filled chair, as we know it, to come into existence. The first mass-produced Bean Bag chairs were created by three Italian designers, Gatti, Paolini, and Teodora, while working for the Zanotta Company in 1969. Called "Sacco" chairs, they were pear-shaped, and filled with Styrofoam leftover pieces. This was the first chair to actually yield to the individual's body movements. The first attempt at mass-production failed, but soon after, the "Sacco" was launched, and gained popularity worldwide. The Bean Bag chair became an icon of "Pop" culture. We are currently enjoying a huge revival of mid-century design, and the iconic bb chair is back in full force. It's an ingenious invention, and has taken its permanent place in Classic Design.
Shopping for children's bean bags is always fun as the designs are more animated. Some come in fruit shapes like a pumpkin. It makes it look like a child is sitting on a real pumpkin. These chairs also have safety measures to avoid accidents. They are made to be more durable, preventing the contents from spilling out. On the other hand, the sports bean bag is for the sports enthusiasts. These bean bag chairs have major logos on them, like the baseball logo, their college teams, hockey, NASCAR, NFL football, basketball, or soccer. These chairs come in a shape of sports balls. Soccer bean bags are in patches of black and white, likened to a real soccer ball. Most of the team recreational rooms have these bean bag chairs decorated on it.
